Vision Statement:

“We are a community of sinners, redeemed by God’s grace, cultivating faith and growth by God’s Word.”

Vision Pillars:

Introduction:

Preparing, sowing, tending and nurturing a field or a plant is a constant and ongoing process. Jesus uses many parables to show how the Christian life is very similar as we go through our own spiritual growth and sanctification. This is a continuous process of fellowship, worship, education, outreach, and service to maintain and grow both ourselves and others in Christ. We are called to recognize opportunities around us and respond to them knowing that it is God that gives the growth and life. (1 Corinthians 3:4 – 11)

Carefully preparing (Worship, Grace)

God calls us to come together around His Word in worship and the sacraments by regularly attending worship services to hear the preached Word of God and receive His gifts through His sacraments. In response, we spend time in family and regular devotions, sharing and discussing God’s Word being continually assured of His free gift of grace and Hisgreat love for us. (Romans 3:23 – 25, Romans 10:14 – 17, Hebrews 10:19 – 25, Matthew 13:31 – 32 (Mustard Seed))

Passionately sowing (Outreach, Mission, Evangelism)

The Holy Spirit leads us to opportunities to bring the hope of the gospel and cultivate spiritual growth to all people, within our homes, our church family, our workplaces, our local community, and beyond. In response, we pray that our Heavenly Father will give us insight to recognize when these opportunities may come our way, equip us, and give us the courage to respond to those times. We also seek God to enable us to always present the image of His Son lovingly by thought, word, and deed as we serve Him and further His Kingdom by serving others and sharing His Good News. (Isaiah 6:1 – 8, 1 Corinthians 1:17 – 18, Matthew 13:1 – 9, 18 – 23 (Sower))

Generously tending (Service, Fellowship)

God creates us to be a unified family of believers, who all have experienced the love of Jesus. In response, we gather as a church family, in worship and other church functions, opening our hearts to each other. We encourage and support each other. We welcome visitors and newcomers. With the help of our Triune God, we seek to always embody the love of Jesus to each other as well as to all who may join us.  (1 Peter 4:10, 1 John 4:7 – 21, 1 Thessalonians 5:11Proverbs 17:17, Mark 12:1 – 11 (Tenants))

Lovingly nourishing (Education, Bible Study)

God reveals himself to us through his Holy Word. In response, we pursue all opportunities to learn and grow in the knowledge and application of God’s truth from His holy WORD, so we can become better equipped to be disciples of our dear Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. (2 Timothy 3:16 – 17, Psalm 119:105, Matthew 13:24 – 30 (Weeds))

St. John’s Lutheran Church is a community of people brought together by the Word of God. We believe that the infallible and inerrant Word of God is the Lord’s great gift to us, for it reveals to us the mind and heart of God. We rejoice in the greatest revelation of that Word–Jesus Christ, true God and true man, come into the world to love us and make us the children of God, through His death and resurrection.

The members of St. John’s are not perfect people, but we are people who have been forgiven through the blood of Jesus Christ. Now His Word lives in us and empowers us to live a life of love for one another. We most sincerely invite you to join us as we learn, live, share and celebrate God’s love for us in Jesus Christ, His Son!
