Sunday School Students
Teaching children about the love of God in Jesus Christ and training them in the ways of living according to God’s word is a primary responsibility of parents. St. John‘s stands ready to help by offering a year-round Sunday School program. All children 3-years-old through 8th grade are invited to participate – they do not even have to be church members. Parents may simply bring their kids to any Sunday School session. Please call the church office with any questions at 507-533-4420.
Sunday School goes from 9:15 to 10:15 am on Sunday mornings. We meet down in the education wing for some opening songs and fun before heading to classrooms for lessons and experiments/activities. Classes are for 3-year-olds through 8th grade. For our children that are 2 years old (or 3 years old who are just not quite ready for Sunday School), we invite them and their parents to join us for Toddler Time; a special time of growing together with games, songs and stories for our youngest children.
The children aged preschool thru 1st grade will be cycling through activities together, in a rotation with the 2nd thru 5th grade. Confirmation years 1, 2 and 3 (typically 6th thru 8th grade) will meet in the classroom at 9:15 am, occasionally joining the younger kids to help us learn songs.

Sunday School for September 2026 – August 2027
Each week we will look at a Bible Verse, spend time on finding it in the Bible, reading it and memorizing it together. One way to grow in Christ is to spend time in His Word. We will be taking time with the older kids to learn how read the chapter and verse numbers and locating the verse in the Bible. We will also be having some experiments and activities that tie into the Bible Verse every week. Please ask your child(ren) what we did!!

PRAYER CHAIN! At our Together Day in October 2025, we made a prayer chain with our prayer partners. That chain has been hung up downstairs by the west steps of the Fellowship Hall. Please feel free to read some of them and pray over the needs that our family in Christ have. We would like to keep this prayer chain going, and there are some more chains that can be written on. They can be found in the fellowship hall, in the education wing, the youth room and upstairs by the mailboxes. Once you have written down a prayer that you may need, please drop off the chain in the mailbox found by the prayer chain in the Fellowship Hall.

High School Students
But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:14-17
Among Satan’s temptations to High School students is the one that says they do not need to continue learning about God after they are confirmed. Some think they have “graduated” from learning God’s word.
In fact, the High School years are some of the very most important years for young people to be in God’s truth. Life is changing so fast, individually and for the society, that the solid foundation of God’s word is critical for life–daily and eternal.
All high school students are encouraged to continue studying God’s Word and its application to life by joining our Director of Christian Education, Dave Erickson, as he teaches the Sunday Morning Youth Bible study at 9:15am in the youth room. Students will be challenged and enlightened. Questions will be answered and students will be prepared to meet the challenges and joys of adult life.
